Earn a Culinary Arts Certificate

Located in Arlington, Virginia, the Metropolitan Culinary Arts Institute (MCAI) offers a pathway to culinary excellence through immersive training in essential skills like brigade operations, cooking fundamentals, multicultural and French cuisine, baking and pastry arts, business acumen, and culinary math.

Our small class sizes, hands-on approach, and modern techniques ensure every student fully engages with each dish, leaving no gaps in their learning. Graduates emerge prepared to step confidently into junior sous chef roles.

We offer flexible Certificate programs: a 14-week daytime course (Monday to Friday, 9 am - 5 pm); a 21-week evening course (Monday to Friday, 6 pm - 10 pm, plus Saturday, 9 am - 5 pm); a Breads & Pastry 14 Week program (Monday to Friday, 9 am - 5 pm and Monday to Friday, 6 pm - 10 pm, plus Saturday, 9 am - 5 pm).

We have a non-certificate program that is an 8 week Culinary Boot Camp, created to teach the fundamentals.

With our State Council of Higher Education (SCHEV) oversight and American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF) approval, MCAI guarantees a high-quality, industry-aligned education taught by expert instructors, backed by a fair refund policy.

Our Breads and Pastry Program covers a full spectrum of baking essentials, from foundational skills to advanced pastry techniques, guiding students through both classic and modern methods. By the end of the program, students will be equipped with professional knowledge and a versatile skill set to succeed in today’s fast-growing culinary industry.

Metropolitan Culinary Arts Institute (MCAI) offers a new, accelerated Professional Culinary Bootcamp that provides 48 hours of focused, hands-on training designed to get you ready for the food service industry—quickly, affordably, and with the essential skills employers are looking for. With a certificate of completion and job placement assistance, this program is your stepping stone into a rewarding culinary career.

Duration: 8 weeks

Schedule: Saturdays, 9 AM - 5 PM

Cost: $5,000

Certification: Completion Certification awarded upon finishing the program

Job Placement: Available with a specialty exam

In order to graduate, students must complete 480 hours of instruction to receive a SCHEV certified Culinary Arts Certificate.
