What is SCHEV?

State Council of Higher Education of Virginia

SCHEV protects students from educational scams, ensures refunds, creates a common policy around discrimination and harassment, and provides a place where students can make their concerns heard.

All major Commonwealth universities have to be certified by SCHEV, including #UniversityofVA, #ODU, #VCU, #VaTech, and more, including every private institution or post-secondary school like ours offering a certification, diploma, and degree.

From May 2017 to Dec 2018, after over 100 pages of documentation, 400 emails, one facility visit, and a Surety Bond, we received SCHEV certification and finally opened in 2019. In Dec. 2020, we passed our second annual certification to operate in 2021 and will go through this process each year to stay in compliance.

MCAI has gone through a rigorous examination of content and policy and passed on its first try, which is no easy feat.

We are proud of our SCHEV certification, and every student should be confident they are protected by #SCHEV.

MCAI is the DMV’s only professional culinary arts school to offer a Certificate of Culinary Arts with over 400 hours of instruction in 14 or 24 weeks.

SCHEV's website provides information on financial aid for private schools like MCAI.
